ASUS Announces First Two-Way HDMI Streaming Kit

ASUS has launched WAVI, its first wireless HDMI kit to feature two-way wireless USB control designed to stream PC content to the big-screen TV. WAVI (Wireless Audio Video Interaction) is offered as a pair of devices that bridges the gap between the home office and living room.

The WAVI HDMI streaming kit consists of a transmitter and receiver for two-way input and streaming. Unlike other wireless HDMI kits, the WAVI allows users to control the PC content in the living room with a wireless keyboard and mouse, thanks to wireless USB support. The WAVI operates at the wireless 5GHz band and provides up to 25 meters of coverage (depends on room). Additionally, in the Extend Mode, users can continue working on the PC screen while streaming multimedia content to the living room TV.

The WAVI is easy to set up, with only an HDMI connection needed on each unit. Plug the transmitter end to the PC and the receiver end to a TV with an HDMI connection.

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Motherboards In Photos

Although Intel Z68 Express is slated for May 8, major motherboard makers already have samples at the ready. Our Chinese colleagues photographed the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO board, and in much detail at that.

So, the board supports 2nd generation Intel Core processors for the socket LGA 1155. It offers four DDR3 sockets and a 16-phase DIGI+ VRM.

DIGI+ VRM is a part of the Dual Intelligent Processors design that includes the Energy Processing Unit (EPU) and TurboV Processing Unit (TPU). It's called to improve performance and provide the maximum power efficiency.

Expandability is provided by three PCIe x16 slots, two of which (white and grey) work in the x4 mode, as well as the PCIe and PCI slots.

Storage drives can be connected to two SATA 3Gbps ports (cyan) and two SATA 6Gbps ports (white and blue).

The back panel features six USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ones, optical S/PDIF, eSATA, Bluetooth, as well as HDMI, D-Sub and DVI.

The logo indicates support for the LucidLogix Virtu technology that dynamically switches between the discrete graphics card and the graphics core integrated into processor.

No pricing data has been disclosed yet.
