Club 3D released an overclocked graphics card based on the Radeon HD 5550 GPU. The novelty features 650/1200 MHz clock rates and 2GB of 128-bit DDR3 memory.

New AMD Opteron 4000 Series Platform Launched

At the GigaOm Structure Cloud Computing and Internet Infrastructure conference, AMD today announced availability of the new AMD Opteron 4000 Series platform.

This is the first server platform designed from the beginning to meet the specific requirements of cloud, hyperscale data center, and SMB customers needing flexible, reliable, and power-efficient 1 and 2P systems. This platform is also available for high-end embedded systems such as telecom servers, storage, and digital signage, through AMD Embedded Solutions.

• The AMD Opteron 4000 Series platform offers four-core and six-core performance at less than 6W per core, reduces power up to 24% over the previous generation, and allows more than double the servers within the same power budget as previous generation platforms.
• The AMD Opteron 4100 Series processor offers price points as low as $99.
• The AMD Opteron 4100 Series processor allows for smaller heat sinks, power supplies, and fans, as well as low-voltage memory to help improve power efficiency.
• The platform is available with embedded industry-standard 5+2 years longevity.
• The AMD Opteron 4000 Series platform is chipset-consistent with the 8-core and 12-core AMD Opteron 6000 Series platform and is planned to support the new Bulldozer core, planned for 2011.

New solutions have already been announced by at least MSI (MS-91F7 motherboard), SuperMicro (1012C-MRF, 1022TC-IBQF/1022TC-TF, 2022TC-BIBQRF/2022TC-BTRF) and Tyan (S8226, S8228, GT24B8226, YR190B8228).

Mushkin Enhanced Speeds Up Callisto SSDs

Back in May, Mushkin Enhanced released its Callisto SSD series. These days, the company introduced Callisto Deluxe drives offering increased performance: 50k IOPS, 285MB/s read, 275MB/s write. The improvements are provided by the SandForce SF-1200 controller.

The Callisto Deluxe series consists of three drives:

• MKNSSDCL60GB-DX -- 60GB SSD, $218
• MKNSSDCL120GB-DX -- 120GB SSD, $370
• MKNSSDCL240GB-DX -- 240GB SSD, $666

The Callisto Deluxe drives are already available, backed up by a 3-year warranty.

PNY Technologies Launches High Speed HDMI Cables

PNY Technologies introduced new Active HDMI Cables certified to the latest HDMI 1.4a standard and delivering the guaranteed bandwidth of 10.2Gbps.

Measuring 3.6mm in diameter, the new High Speed HDMI cables are offered as HDMI to HDMI (Type A to Type A) and HDMI mini to HDMI (Type A to Type C). The former connect cable boxes, Blu-ray and HD DVD players, computers, AV receivers, or game consoles to HDTV sets. The latter connect small portable devices, such as digital cameras camcorder, to HDTV sets.

PQI Releases First Single-Stick 4GB Turbo DDR3-2000

PQI released its first single-stick 4GB Immortality Turbo DDR3-2000 memory module, featuring 256x8 BGA units. The company offers new modules in 12GB and 8GB kits.

Eizo Announces ColorEdge CG243W-B Professional Monitor

Eizo announced a new 24.1-inch ColorEdge CG243W-B professional monitor based on an IPS panel. The monitor is claimed to cover 98% of Adobe RGB color space.

The key specifications are:

• Resolution: 1920x1200
• Viewing angles: 178°C
• Brightness: 270 cd/m²
• Contrast: 850:1
• Response time: 13ms

The monitor features two USB 2.0 ports, two DVI-D ports and one DisplayPort. The novelty went on sale today in Japan with the MSRP of EUR 1499.
