Gigabyte Unveils GA-X58A-UD9 Motherboard

Gigabyte unveils the new GA-X58A-UD9 motherboard, featuring a 24 phase Unlocked Power design, 4-way graphics support including NVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFireX, as well as a host of proprietary features such as 333 Onboard Acceleration and On/Off Charge.

Featuring the proprietary Gigabyte Unlocked Power technology with all new 24 phase design, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 provides maximum power delivery for Intel's latest 1366 socket CPUs including the new Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition hexacore CPUs as well as upcoming extreme performance solutions.

Gigabyte Unlocked Power also delivers better durability and longer component lifespan due to the company's first Dual Power Switching design. When Dual Power Switching is activated, 2 sets of 12 power phases operate in tandem, automatically turning on one set of 12 phases and powering down the other 12, allowing the non-active set to rest. By sharing the power workload between the 2 sets of power phases, Gigabyte Dual Power Switching effectively doubles the lifespan of power phases. Additionally, Gigabyte Unlocked Power features built-in Auto Failure Protection, so if one power phase is damaged or fails, the motherboard will automatically disable its group of 12 phases, allowing it to still operate using the other set of twelve, unlike a traditional motherboard which would be unable to boot.

When CPU loading requires more than 12 phases to be active, Gigabyte Dual Power Switching temporarily suspends, and the full 24 power phases are automatically unlocked, allowing for maximum power delivery. For overclockers and power users, this means the full 24 power phases can be activated to deliver the highest amount of CPU power currently available on any desktop motherboard.

Based on Intel's highest-end X58 chipset, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 offers a wide range of premium features tailored for PC enthusiasts. For those willing to build ultimate graphics rigs, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 delivers support for 4-way PCI Express 2.0 graphics (x16) for both ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI technologies.

GA-X58A-UD9 also provides the latest in data transfer and storage capabilities with support for Gigabyte 333 Onboard Acceleration: SuperSpeed USB 3.0, SATA 6Gbps support, including RAID 0 support for up to 4 times faster data transfer compared with SATA 3Gbps, and Gigabyte 3X USB power.

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 motherboards also feature the proprietary Gigabyte Ultra Durable 3 design, which features twice the amount of copper of a traditional PCB design, as well as the innovative Smart6 PC management tools, On/Off Charge with 3x USB Power for quick anytime iPhone and iPad charging, Dynamic Energy Saver 2 power saving utilities, and DualBIOS technologies. Of course, GA-X58A-UD9 also comes with overclocking features, including overvoltage controller ICs, real-time onboard Debug and System Alert LEDs and enough overclocking BIOS settings to push hardware to its limits.

Lian Li Unveils Upgraded TYR PC-X2000F HTPC/Gaming Chassis

Today, Lian Li Industrial announced the TYR PC-X2000F chassis. Its stylish side panels accept four 5.25-inch optical drives and one 3.5-inch drive with toolless sliding mounts that can be placed on either the left or right side. Unlike Lian Li's previously released TYR PC-X2000 that had space for only two 5.25-inch optical drives, the new TYR PC-X2000F splits HDD bays between the upper and lower thermal zones for more efficient cooling. Furthermore, the TYR PC-X2000F's toolless HDD mounting racks support seven SAS hot-swappable HDDs -- another increase over the X2000.

The new TYR PC-X2000F features an all-black anodized interior, an easily removable front panel which covers three 140mm silent intake fans, protected by a removable and washable nylon dust filter. The fan speed control switch is placed on the back panel of the chassis. The TYR PC-X2000F boasts four USB 3.0 ports mounted on the top of the chassis alongside one multimedia port for e-SATA and HD audio.

Lian Li's TYR PC-X2000F requires just a few quick snaps to install key components. The design features toolless motherboard installation, and eight toolless PCI card holders with rubber pads to hold graphics cards firmly in place. Additionally, PSU is now located above a vent on the bottom panel, for additional cooling, and also doesn't need tools to install. The vent is protected by a removable and washable nylon dust filter.

More features include support for Extended ATX, ATX, and Micro-ATX motherboards, water cooling support, 140mm silent exhaust fans for the motherboard heat zone, 140mm exhaust fans for the HDD bay heat zone and anti-vibration and insulated rubber strips on the mounting platforms.

The case was designed with silence in mind, so the specialized sound insulation material combined with 2mm thick aluminum alloy side panels keep the system quiet.

Specifications:

  • Model: PC-X2000F
  • Case Type: Full Tower Chassis
  • Dimensions : (W) 240mm x (H) 695mm x (D) 442mm

Sony Develops an Interchangeable Lens HD Camcorder

Sony Corporation announced today that it is developing a new type of AVCHD high-definition camcorder which features key technologies powering the newly announced interchangeable lens digital cameras NEX-5 and NEX-3 and plans to commercialize the new HD camcorder in fall 2010.

Conceptual mock-up

The new camcorder will be equipped with the same "Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor to be used in NEX-5 and NEX-3. In addition, the camcorder will be compatible with "E-mount" interchangeable lenses developed for NEX-5 and NEX-3, and also with the wealth of A-mount interchangeable lenses from the existing α DSLR camera lineup via a mount adaptor.
