Transcend Introduces aXeRam DDR3 Extreme Performance Memory

Transcend introduced its aXeRam DDR3 Extreme Performance memory in DDR3-1800 2GB/4GB and DDR3-1600 2GB kits. These modules are designed specifically for hardcore gamers and are made of high-quality DRAM chips and custom high-purity aluminum heatsinks with cooling fins for improved overclocking.

All aXeRam modules use eight-layer PCBs that fully comply with JEDEC standards. Transcend's aXeRam DDR3 modules also support new Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) technology, which allows users with high-performance motherboards to automatically configure their memory using aXerRam's built-in profiles, or manually input their own memory timing parameters.

Brief specs:

  • DDR3-1800 2GB/4GB - 128Mx8, CL = 8, 1.8V, P/N: TX1800KLU-2GK
  • DDR3-1600 2GB - 128Mx8, CL = 7, 1.8V, P/N: TX1600KLU-2GK

The new kits are backed by a lifetime warranty.

OCZ Introduces Core V2 Solid-State Drives

OCZ Technology Group yesterday unveiled the newest addition to their OCZ Core Series SATA II 2.5-inch Solid State Drives.

Featuring new architecture, the Core Series SSD V2 will be available in up to 250GB, delivering speeds of up to 170 MB/s read and 98 MB/s write speeds with an improved seek time of less than 0.2-0.3ms. The addition of a mini-USB port also makes it possible for customers in the field to update the Core V2's firmware should new versions become available, to further enhance compatibility or performance with future platforms.

Core V2 SSDs have 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) and come backed a two year warranty.

VIA Mobile-ITX Form Factor - Smallest There Can Be?

VIA Technologies is going to introduce the new Mobile-ITX form factor late this or early next year. A VIA Mobile-ITX board will be twice as smaller as a Pico-ITX one. As you might remember, currently Pico-ITX, sized 100x72mm, is the smallest form factor in VIA's arsenal.

Mobile-ITX will support platforms featuring VIA Eden, C-7 and Nano processors.

Besides, VIA demonstrated a few robots at the recent Taipei International Robot Show. The peculiarity is that robots' controllers have Pico-ITX form factor. The company stated that miniature footprint and low power consumption of its platforms are well suited for robotics.
