Following the first ASUS Eee PCs that could be called inexpensive to a certain extent, new products were priced like way more powerful fully-fledged notebooks (with a few affordable exceptions). So, from this point of view, Jointech JL7100 is the first mini-notebook that can actually be called cheap. The device features a 7-inch display of 800x480 resolution. The configuration includes an ARM9-based processor, chipset from Samsung, 64MB RAM and 64MB flash ROM (expandable to 8GB with a flash dongle), VGA interface and 3 x USB ports. Unfortunately, the novelty works under WinCE 5.0. But no doubt enthusiasts will find a way to install Linux onto this rig as well. The machine also features a QWERTY keyboard, touchpad and stereo speakers. Before you start making comments, consider the price: 99 USD. The machine is bundled with MS Word Viewer, MS Excel Viewer, MS Powerpoint Viewer, MSN Messenger, Media Player, Image Viewer, Wordpad, PDF Viewer, Calculator, Paint, Internet Explorer. The list of supported media formats includes MP3, WMA, WAV, AVI, BMP, JPG, GIF, etc. Jointech JL7100 weighs just 680g (battery included) and is sized 225x165x36mm. Its Li-Ion battery takes 4 hours to charge and allows for 4-72 hours of operation depending on load. The company is preparing four color modifications: black, pink, white and blue. Source: Jointech
