Transcend Rolls Out 32GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD And Its First Photo Frame
Transcend announced the arrival of its 32GB 2.5" SATA Solid State Disk. The SSD products have an advantage over standard 2.5" HDDs in that they are made of solid-state memory with no moving parts, and therefore not susceptible to mechanical failure resulting from vibration, shock, etc.
Transcend's 2.5-inch SATA SSD has the standard compact dimensions as normal 2.5" hard drives and the thickness of 9.5mm. In addition, the 2.5-inch SATA SSD has built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) functionality and built-in wear leveling technology.
The 2.5-inch SATA SSD is currently available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities.
The company also announced its first photo frame - T.photo 710. The frame has 1GB of internal memory and is equipped with a 7" 480x234 TFT LCD. According to the press release, T.photo 710 automatically calculates the best way to display photos based on the information within each digital image, and preserves the original aspect ratio of pictures.
The T.photo 710 supports JPG, BMP and Motion-JPG formats, and you can choose to view photos one at a time, in slideshow view, or tiled thumbnail view – all with background audio from its built-in speakers. You can even plug-in your favorite pair of headphones and use the T.photo as an MP3 player.
The novelty features a multi-card reader that shows all pictures on SD cards (SDHC/SD), MMC cards, MS cards, and CF cards as soon as you plug them in. Besides, USB host connector allows you to plug in USB flash drives. Once connected, the T.photo will automatically find and display all pictures and music available on the flash drive without having to press a single button.
To allow convenient operation from a distance, T.photo 710 provides a slim, easy-to-use remote control. The remote gives you the option of selecting pictures to display from the T.photo's onboard memory, flash media cards, or a USB flash drive, and also allows you to control its background music no matter what photo viewing mode you are in.
When you're not viewing full-screen photos, the T.photo can also be a handsome desktop clock/calendar. The Clock and Calendar mode displays a photo or slideshow of your choice on one half of the screen, while showing a digital clock and monthly calendar on the other half. The calendar allows you to mark important days and set custom MP3 alarm reminders.

VIA Technologies today announced the VIA EPIA SN-series mainboard, the first Mini-ITX to be based on the Vista-certified VIA CN896 IGP chipset.
Powered by the 1.8GHz VIA C7 processor, the VIA EPIA SN provides a performance boost of up to 30% over previous VIA EPIA mainboards, while a fanless 1GHz CPU is suitable for Network Attached Storage and other applications requiring passive cooling. The VIA EPIA SN is also the first to provide the 16-lane PCI-Express port for graphics cards. Other features include 4 Serial ATA II ports, VIA V-RAID (via VIA VT8251 Southbridge), an Ultra DMA port, a Compact Flash connector, 1000Mbps and 100Mbps LAN ports and wireless support.
The VIA EPIA SN also supports 4GB of DDR2-667 system memory, has the option of 4 additional COM ports and a native LPC bus. The VIA CN896 chipset has been certified by Microsoft to guarantee installation of Windows Vista, with its VIA Chrome9 HC integrated graphics core capable of MPEG-2 acceleration.
