Plextor Ships RoHS Compliant 16x DVD±R Burner

Plextor announced the immediate availability of the PX-755SA DVD±R/RW CD-R/RW optical disc drive. The PX-755SA replaces the PX-716SA, completing Plextor's conversion to drive designs that comply with the European Union's Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation.

The multifunction internal PX-755SA drive delivers recording speeds of 16X DVD±R on certified 16X DVD±R media. The drive also supports 8X DVD+RW, 6X DVD-RW Rewriting; 16X max DVD-Reading; 48X CD-R Writing, 24X CD-RW Rewriting, and 48X max CD-Reading.

The PX-755SA has a 2 MB buffer and features Buffer Underrun Proof Technology to prevent buffer underrun errors and allow multi-tasking. The PX-755SA also features AUTOSTRATEGY, a technology that selects the optimized write strategy for every DVD disc and, if necessary, creates a new write strategy for unknown media. PoweRec adjusts laser power and writing speed to optimum levels for a particular disc.

The PX-755SA Series drive comes with PlexTools Professional, Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 software.

The Plextor PX-755SA drive will ship to distributors in North and South America immediately with an MSRP of $129.

NVIDIA 7900GX2 - First Photos, Clock Rates, Price

This month brought news that Foxconn would produce graphics cards, and the first samples were even showcased at CeBIT. But now HKEPC.com publishes the first photos of GeForce 7900GX2 cards from this company.

Besides, they also got to know the exact clock rates of such solutions, each of which combines two GeForce 7900GTX via a single-slot adapter. Therefore a SLI machine can have four GeForce 7900GTX GPUs.

So, 7900GX2 core clock is 500MHz, DDR3 clock is 1.2GHz. FYI, the reference GeForce 7900GTX has 650/1500 MHz clock rates.

The GeForce 7900GX2 adapter utilizes 48 PCIe lanes, of which 16 are used to interact with motherboard's PCIe interface, and other 32 lanes are dedicated to 7900GX2 GPUs interaction.

Foxconn's novelties support 32x FSAA and require a 650W PSU for a Quad SLI configuration. A single GeForce 7900GX2 card is expected to cost over $1,000 in retail. Source: HKEPC.com
