Apple launches iMac G5
Apple launched sales of new iMac machines based on PowerPC G5 (667MHz FSB). The new series includes three systems, all with wireless interfaces, operating under Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
The configurations include, 8X SuperDrives supporting dual-layer DVD media, Gigabit Ethernet and 512MB 400MHz DDR RAM (up to 2GB).
All elements are traditionally encased into the monitor body. Speaking of the monitor, the senior system features 20" 1680x1050 display, while the two other offer 17" 1440x900 displays.
AirPort Extreme 802.11g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) allow you not to use cabling at all and work with Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Wireless Mouse.
The novelties feature 160GB or 250GB hard drives (up to 400GB) and ATI Radeon 9600 128MB graphics.
Interfaces include 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, 5 x USB (3 x USB2.0 in the body, 2 x USB 1.1 in the keyboard) and 2 x FireWire 400.
The bundle includes the iLife´05 suite for media management, video editing and DVD preparation. Other software applications include AppleWorks, Quicken 2005 for Macintosh, 2005 World Book Multimedia Reference Suite, Nanosaur 2 and Marble Blast Gold.
The basic configuration of the most junior machine costs $1,299.
