JVC announces the development of single-sided dual-layer DVD-RW media
Today Victor Company of Japan (JVC) announced the development of the first single-sided dual-layer DVD-RW disk technology that enables 8.5GB of rewritable data on single-sided dual-layer DVD-RW blanks.
The company developed the highly sensitive recording film, the new recording method codenamed "N-Strategy" for enhanced erasability, and the proprietary precision thin film forming technology. Besides, JVC has also developed a facing film bonding method that enables mass production of the new discs using conventional manufacturing equipment.
JVC will forward a proposal to the DVD Forum in an effort to promote the adoption and advancement of single-sided, dual layer DVD-RW disc technology.
Samsung to sell 17" SyncMaster 721S LCD monitors
Samsung is to launch sales of the new 17" SyncMaster 721S LCD with 8ms response time.
The monitor supports 1280x1024 (SXGA) resolution, 8ms response time (change from black to white and to black again), 300cd/m², 600:1 contrast, 160° viewing angle, 16.19m colors.
The monitor has 2 x 1.5W speakers and supports MagicBright and MagicColor features. Sized 388x215.7x406.3mm it weighs 6kg and has standard 75mm VESA mount.
SyncMaster 721S is expected to cost $325.
