Good bye to old 2.50-2.80 GHz Celerons
Late last week Intel informed on ceasing the production of 2.50~2.80 GHz Celeron CPUs made using 130nm process. Orders will be accepted until July 22, 2005, latest consignments shipping on March 24, 2006 (tray) and October 21, 2005 (box). As usual, the reason to stop the production was the shift to higher-performance solutions, however 2.50 GHz tray versions of these CPUs will be supported by Infrastructure Processor Division of the company.
Speaking of the FC-PGA2 processors themselves, they feature 128KB L2 cache, 400MHz FSB, 1.25-1.525V voltage (tray sSpecs are SL77T, SL77S, SL6VV, SL6ZY; box sSpecs are SL77V, SL77U, SL6VV, SL6W5, SL72B).
Need for more speed: GreenHouse´s Pico Turbo USB dongles
While it has become more or less calmer in Europe, Asian vendors still strive for higher performance. GreenHouse announced the new Pico Turbo USB dongle that supports 27MB/s read and 20MB/s. The novelties will be available in April with capacities of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB, while 2GB dongles are to arrive in the end of April. The price will vary from $54 to $327.
The bundle includes password protection software (works under Windows XP/Me/2000/98SE).
