CeBit 2005: Gigabyte to unveil PDA phones on Intel chipsets
Could you imagine a mobile handset from Gigabyte? Well, now you have to! At CeBit 2005 the company has spoken about the novelties you can see on the photos (sent by nobody else, but Alexander Vorobiev).
Pity that no actual handsets were introduced, but judging by the images we still can understand some things. First of all, there will be at least two series: Professional/Business and Entertainment/Fashion. Second, and this is not written on the slides, the new PDA phones will be based on chipsets from Intel!
The PDA phones of the former family will feature:
- WLAN
- Bluetooth
- GPRS
- MMS
- MP3 player
- FM radio
- 2.1M camera
- TV receiver
- Handwriting recognition
- 2.4" TFT LCD
These models are claimed to be "tailor-made for target users". Can this mean features on demand? That you will decide what features your handset will carry? Or is this just marketing? Well, as usual the time will tell.
The second series of PDA handsets is intended for younger public that will like the style and fashion as well as:
- MMS
- MP3
- GPRS
- 1.3M camera
- 2" TFT LCD
- miniSD card reader
Can´t stop thinking that the rightmost slider handset (opened) resembles the Siemens SL55/65. Well, can´t say this is bad anyway.
