DynaMO 1300 Pocket: new features, new drives
Fujitsu Computer Products of America (FCPA) introduced a new portable magneto-optical drive — DynaMO 1300 Pocket. Comparing to the previous models, it supports data encryption and password protection. Naturally, DynaMO 1300 will be showcased at CES 2005.
Data access policy is enforced not by the drive itself, but by the bundled SecureMO Folder software.
As for the device itself, it features USB 2.0 interface, utilizes 1.3 GB media and is backward compatible with older 128, 230, 540 and 640 MB MO diskettes.

According to the press release, Fujitsu DynaMO 1300 Pocket retail bundle has MSRP of $200, while 1.3 GB media in 5-piece packs costs less than $10. If 1.3 GB is not enough, the company offers DynaMO 2300U2 USB 2.0 that supports 2.3 GB media. But this one already powers from wall outlets instead of USB interface.
