Sharp unveils MURAMASA PC-MP40H and PC-MP50G notebooks on Efficeon TM8800
Sharp unveiled new ultra portable MURAMASA PC-MP40H notebooks with 10.4" displays (1024x768). Novelties are to go on sale on December 3 for about ¥200,000 ($1930).
PC-MP40H bases on 1.6 GHz Transmeta Efficeon TM8800 processor and is bundled with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and Office Personal Edition 2003 SP1. At the same time, the company will be selling simpler PC-MP50G model on 1,4 GHz Efficeon.
Both models feature 256 MB RAM (PC2700, up to 1 GB), 40 GB HDD, DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, IEEE 802.11b/g adapter, 56K modem, 1 x PCMCIA Type 2 slot. All in all this configuration doesn´t yield to Intel Pentium M + 855GM bundle. Sharp´s Transmeta solutions just don´t have built-in flash reader.
PC-MP40H and PC-MP50G are sized 255x208x28.8-30.8 mm at 1.26 kg. Their Li-Ion batteries provide up to 5 hours of operation.

LG introduced its new multiformat DVD recorder, GSA-5160D. It supports USB 2.0 and Firewire and the following speeds:
