Naturally, PNY Technologies was one of the first to support NVIDIA by introducing products on Quadro FX 3400, Quadro FX 1300, Quadro FX 330, Quadro NVS 280.
Quadro FX 3400/1300/330:
NVIDIA Quadro NVS
At WWDC Apple showcased its 30" monitor supporting resolutions up to 2560x1600 along with 23" and 20" models that are to replace existing flat panels. All of the above have 2 x FireWire 400 and 2 x USB 2.0 ports, DVI (instead of ADC). The latter enables to connect monitors to Power Macs, PowerBooks and PC-compatible systems.
30" Apple Cinema HD will go on sale in August, 23" Apple Cinema HD (1920x1200) and 20" Apple Cinema Display (1680x1050) will go on sale in July with prices ranging from $2000 to $1300. 30" modeil will cost $3300.
While there are no special requirements for 23" and 20", 30" model will work on Power Mac G5 systems with NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra cards (Apple is going to supply upgrade packs for existing G5, while new systems will have GF 6800 as an option).
Acer extended its European notebook series with Aspire 2020 model.
This 15.4" system bases on Intel Pentium-M (Centrino) on 90nm Dothan core with 2MB L2 cache and 855GME chipset. It has Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG adapter, 512MB DDR SDRAM, 60GB HDD, DVD/CD-RW or DVD±RW drive, 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics (1280x800, 16.7 million colors, 16:10). Interfaces include 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x IEEE1394 (Firewire), SD/MMC/MS/SmartMedia reader. Sized 360x273x28/33.49 mm, Aspire 2020 weighs 3 kg. The novelty is shipped with pre-installed Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
NVIDIA announced a new series of professional PCI Express cards: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400, FX 1300, FX 330 for 3D graphics and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 280 for 2D graphics.
The high-end NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 will be used in workstations built by Dell Computer, Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, HP, etc.
The series has software and hardware support of NVIDIA Scalable Link Interface and also support of NVIDIA Unified Driver Architecture.
As for cards, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 features 256MB GDDR3, 256-bit bus, 28.8 GB/s throughput, 2 x DVI. FX 3100 has 128MB DDR SDRAM, 256-bit bus, 17.6 GB/s throughput, 2 x DVI. FX 330 has 64MB DDR SDRAM, 64-bit bus, 3.2 GB/s throughput.
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 280 is said to be available for PCI Express, PCI, and AGP buses. NVIDIA Quadro NVS series includes NVIDIA Quadro NVS 280 (AGP, PCI, PCI Express), NVIDIA Quadro NVS 50 (AGP) and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 400 (PCI).
Brief NVS features:
Intel officially released new Xeon processors and also introduced E7525 chipset previously codenamed Tumwater). According to the press release, the new platform performs 30% faster comparing to the previous generations (according to SPECfp_rate_base2000 for a dual Intel Xeon 3.60 GHz system (800 MHz FSB, Intel E7525) and for dual Intel Xeon 3.20 GHz system with 1MB L3 (533 MHz FSB, Intel E7505)).
Xeon-based solutions will be introduced by Asus, Compusys, Dell, IBM, HP, Egenera, Foxconn, FSC, Fujitsu, Gigabyte, HCL, Iwill, Kraftway, Maxdata, MPC, NEC, Optimus and Tyan. At that a number of boards were already announced earlier.
Thus Intel Xeon series now includes 2.80 GHz to 3.60 GHz products. The latter will be massively produced only from Q3 on. In over 1,000-unit quantities a 3.60 GHz processor costs $851; 3.40 GHz $690; 3.20 GHz $455; 3 GHz $316; 2.80 GHz $209. E7525 in same quantities costs $100.
As for processor technologies, they include Demand Based Switching (DBS) and Enhanced Intel SpeedStep as well as Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T). Hyper-Threading is also supported.
The chipset utilizes load balancing focused on CPU, I/O and memory. DDR2 support reduces energy consumption by 40% comparing to DDR333.
And yet another graphics card on NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GPU. This one is introduced by MSI. The product supports Dynamic Overclocking Technology (D.O.T.) that has 6 GPU/memory overclocking presets.
MSI CopperULTRA cooler provides 28dB noise @ 2800rpm (or 40dB @ 4000rpm). The card is bundled with Media Center Deluxe II software for playing DVDs, music, browsing images and remote application access.
