We are now testing Gigabyte´s GA-8GPNXP Duo motherboard on i915P Express chipset for Pentium 4 LGA775 processors with 800/533 MHz FSB. The board has 4 x DDR400/333 SDRAM sockets and 2 x DDR2-533/400 sockets. As usual, it features PCI Express x16 slot, 3 x PCI Express x1, 2 x PCI. Other features include 2 x LAN (Broadcom 5751 and Marvel 8001).
The bundle that we got for testing (press kit I suppose) includes the board itself, CPU, cooler, 2 x DDR2-533 modules, GV-NX57128D graphics card (128MB, GeForce PCX 5750) and WLAN card.
KINGMAX officially announced the new 1GB SO-DIMM DDR2-533 modules designed for notebooks (in particular, those based on Alviso chipset).
1GB SO-DIMM DDR2-533 modules will go on sale in Q3 this year along with Alviso-based notebooks. 256MB and 512MB modules will also be on sale at that time.
Olympus is not the only who releases Ferrari-styled products. Now Acer decided to release Ferrari 3200 notebook to celebrate its status of official supplier of Scuderia Ferrari.
Ferrari 3200 bases on a low-voltage AMD Athlon 64 2800+ that supports AMD PowerNow! and Hyper-Transport. The model has a 15" TFT display, 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 512MB DDR SDRAM, 80GB HDD and DVD recorder. NEC unveiled its first ultra compact DVD recorder, ND-6500A, that supports 8x DVD±R and 4x DVD±RW speeds. The featured innovation is Active Optimized Power Control (Active OPC) technology that "dynamically monitors writing power and reflection of the media in use, calculating the optimum laser power and adjusting it in real-time."
8x DVD ±SlimWriter 8.5GB (ND-6500A) features:
ABIT officially released a new Intel 865PE based motherboard, AS8. It supports Pentium 4 LGA775 processors and has a dual-channel DDR400, SATA RAID, IEEE1394 controllers.
AS8 dedicates many features to CPU, memory, chipset overclocking and utilizes OTES AeroFlow air circulation technology. µGuru now has Autodrive feature that dynamically adjusts performance depending on user needs. Besides, AS8 (as well as recently announced AG8 and AA8-DuraMAX) features Overclocking Strips (see below).
Advanced Media, a daughter company of RITEK, launched the production of dual-layer DVD±R media (8.5GB; 4 hours of DVD video, 16 hours of VHS video, 120 hours of MP3). The new media is compatible with existing DVD players, DVD-ROM drives and the new DVD±R DL products, and will go on sale in mid-July.
According to the press release, new discs are tested and certified by DVD+R Alliance that gathers a number of vendors of recording devices and software. The new single-side, dual-layer DVD±R drive will be offered under RIDATA brand for the yet undisclosed price. We, of course, would like to know the exace numbers, because similar Verbatim media will go on sale in Europe for €15 each.
