Sony QUALIA 016: 2 megapixels for $3900

And another QUALIA product from Sony: a miniature QUALIA 016 digital camera with the smallest AF lens. Sized 6.8x2.3x1.6cm, it weighs just 56.6g. According to the press release, this little one will go on sale this Spring for mere $3900. Well, we all know that sky-high price is a distinctive feature of all QUALIA solutions.

For optimal usage of body´s very limited area, the camera features a touchpad to control all its settings. Unlike other miniature cameras, for which makers provide software-interpolated resolution, this one utilizes a 2-megapixel CCD (1/2.7"). To provide image clearness, the camera divides shots into 4 parts that are joined together afterwards. Another interesting feature is automatic brightness correction in dim environments.

QUALIA 016 has aluminium body and scratchproof sapphire lens glass. Besides, it has 0.55" LCD, supports 4x digital zoom and naturally utilizes Memory Stick Duo for its TIFF/JPG shots. The bundle includes a flash, remote control, video-out unit, wide-angle lens, telephoto lens, viewfinder, 64MB Memory Stick Duo, lithium battery and charger.

Sharp Mebius PC-MC30F: another 12.1" laptop

Sharp announced the new 2-spindle notebook, Mebius PC-MC30F, that is to go on sale on May 12. The model features 1,667MHz Athlon XP-M 2000+ processor, 256MB DDR266 SDRAM (up to 768MB), 40GB Ultra ATA/100 HDD and DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive.

The notebook also has 12.1" XGA (1024x768) monitor, 100BASE-TX/10BASE-T interface, 56Kbps modem, PC Card Type II slot, 15-pin D-Sub, mic-in, headphones-out, 4 x USB 2.0. Similar to many other Sharp notebooks this one has a DirectHD connector (USB2.0) that allows using turned-off Mebius PC-MC30F as an external hard drive.

Mebius PC-MC30F battery provides about 1.8 hours of operation. Sized 281x262x22.5mm, the model weighs about 2.5kg.

The first apparition of ATI Radeon X800

It seems journalists worldwide left NVIDIA alone for a while and turned to a more topical subject — ATI´s new announcements. Rumours, guesses and just fantasies about Radeon X800 are just pouring from the Web.

We won´t pull the yet unannounced ATI GPUs to pieces, but just offer you an interesting photo from Taiwanese OÑ.com.tw. According to our colleagues, on the photo below is a card on Radeon X800 (or Radeon X800 Pro?) As you can see, the design and circuitry are similar to those of Radeon 9800XT, so we can´t bet on its authenticity. One might say that nothing prevents a Radeon X800-based novelty from looking like the card below. ;)

Sony extends QUALIA family with a new MD player and earphones

Sony extended its QUALIA family with two novelties: an MD player and earphones. QUALIA Q017-MD1 player bases on MZ-E10 model launched late in 2002. It´s bundled with a remote control, earphones, AC adapter, cradle and earphones adapter. Body colors include gilded and silvery.

Sized 91.4x79x15.3mm, player weighs 244g with a battery that provides up to 21 hours of operation in SP mode, up to 27 hours in LP2 mode and about 33 hours in LP4 mode.

Q010-MDR1 earphones have the following features:

  • 5Hz — 120kHz range
  • 101dB/mW sensitivity
  • 16 ohm (@ 1kHz) impedance

Until now QUALIA family included QUALIA 004 home theatre projector, QUALIA 007 SACD system, QUALIA 015 CRT monitor and QUALIA 016 compact camera.

RightMark Project: introducing RightMark Spy 1.0. Mini naming contest!

We introduce you yet another utility developed within RightMark Project. Currently codenamed RightMark Spy, it´s meant for:

  • CPU frequency
  • CPU load in %%
  • Free memory available
  • PCI overclock (via HPC clock shift)

This small but useful utility is available here:

Now for the most interesting: no iXBT.com / Digit-Life.com project goes without comments from our readers. This time we are thinking over a more interesting name for the new utility, so maybe you can invent a better variant for us? :) All variants are welcome at develop@rightmark.org
