ATI, PowerColor and Russian distributors sign 4-party agreement

Events like CeBIT 2004 are primarily organized as a place for conducting business meetings, signing important distributor agreements, etc. Sometimes a single meeting at such event might radically change the company focus.

Alexander Vorobiev, iXBT.com representative, exclusively photographed a very important moment of CeBIT 2004. First, C.P. Tech, the well-known maker of graphics and system boards, barebones and Tablet PCs, and the owner of PowerColor brand, changed its name to TUL.

Second, a number of Russian companies, namely Atlantic Computers, OLDI, Dealine, 3Logic, and Niagara, signed an exclusive distributor agreement with ATI and PowerColor.

According to it, PowerColor graphics cards will be exclusively shipped to the aforementioned partners based on the stable pricing policy.

And now take a look at the photos made at the meeting that gathered ATI´s senior management team and HIS top management.

Waiting for the agreement to be signed (left to right): Olesya Velichko (Atlantic Computers; Chief of Distributor Department), Maksim Neishpapa (Atlantic Computers; CEO), Alexander Zhavoronkov (ATI; Manager for Central and Eastern Europe), Alexander Bashlykov (3Logic; CEO).

Photo of the day: a graphics card on ATI R423?

Of all the photos our Alexander Vorobyev sends us from CeBIT 2004 some are totally unique. Among the novelties showcased at the booth of GeCube (Info-Tek Corp. brand) there are several ATI-based graphics cards with PCI Express 16x bus. Despite the company representative withdraw from any comments, we believe one of the showcased GPUs is nothing else, but R423, the PCI Express 16x variant of R420.

And without a doubt the card below operates on ATI RV380:

Toshiba unveils gigabeat G21 player on 1.8" 20GB HDD

Toshiba unveiled its new portable multimedia player with networking support, gigabeat G21, that features 1.8" 20GB HDD. Two player models, black and silvery, will go on sale on April 9. The previous model, gigabeat G20, went on sale in October 2003.

The key difference between the old and the new models are 2 x USB ports on G21 cradle that can be used to connect WLI-USB-KB11 WLAN adapter. PC connection is established at USB 2.0, while WLAN adapter connection — USB 1.1.

According to the makers, 20GB capacity is enough for 5,000 tracks (128Kbps, 4-minute length). The player supports WMA, WAV, MP3 formats, features 160x86 backlit LCD. Sized 76.5x89.5x12.7mm, it weighs 138g. The Li-Ion battery provides up to 11 hours of operation.
