S/U/M/A/ announces Superior nForce3 Pro motherboard

Brainbox reports that S/U/M/A, known by its graphics cards, announced a motherboard on nForce3 150 for AMD Athlon 64 processors — Superior nForce3 Pro.

The features and design do not differ from other similar solutions: 3 x DDR333/400 slots, 5 x PCI slots, AGP 8x slot, 6 x USB2.0 ports (4 on back panel), SerialATA, 6-channel audio, LAN, etc.

Diamond Stealth and Viper graphics to revive and arrive for sale in November

Diamond Multimedia announced plans to enter the graphcis card market again with new cards under old and once popular Stealth and Viper trademarks. Actually these brands as well as the remains of Diamond´s graphics card division now belong to Best Data. As only few heard of Best Data in the graphics card market, it seems the company decided to revive Diamond brands and play upon their popularity to increase own profits. As it has been before, Stealth series will include inexpensive boards, while Viper will be positioned as high-end.

New "Diamonds" are expected for sale in November. Some of them will feature ATI GPUs, while some – NVIDIA´s. Of course, their bundles will include popular software and games.

In the press release Diamond underlines that it will continue selecting GPUs for own boards guided by chip features, not by vendors.

Nokia unveils its first clamshell alongside Series 90 handset at Mobile Internet Conference

At the annual Nokia Mobile Internet Conference started yesterday in Nice, Nokia introduced three new handsets: 6230, 7200, and 7700.

The tri-band Nokia 6230 (GSM, GPRS, EDGE 900/1800/1900MHz) is a middle-class multimedia model supporting EDGE, GPRS, HSCSD, Bluetooth, and featuring a VGA camera. Still the Series 40 platform implies rather simple PIM apps.

Nokia 6230 specs:

  • 65536 color TFT display
  • Int. still camera
  • EDGE and GPRS
  • Bluetooth
  • Video recording

  • OMA Digital Rights Management 1.0
  • Mobile Wallet
  • Loudspeaker
  • 24-tone polyphony
  • IrDA, USB

Nokia 7200 is company´s first clamshell. This dual-band device (GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800 MHz) also features digital camera and FM radio.

The third novelty — Nokia 7700 – pretends to become the favourite succeeding the 7650. Based on Series 90 and Symbian OS, this handset is optimized for mobile Internet, documents and multimedia. It has original and even frivolous design that doesn´t belittle its features though.

Nokia 7700 works in GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands; supports GPRS and EDGE; has 640x320 TFT display with 65536 colors, int. VGA camera, FM radio, supports multimedia messaging. Nokia 7700 has 64Mb memory and supports flash media (MMC I guess), Bluetooth and USB. According to the company, in the future Nokia 7700 will demonstrate content creation features, being capable of recording movies and broadcast them in the DVB-H format via Nokia Streamer SU-6.

Pity, but digital camera in Nokia 7700 supports onlly 640õ480 resolution (300K pixels), though there are megapixel models in the market as well. Nokia 6230 and 7200 are expected for sale in Q1 2004, 7700 – in Q2 2004.
