Sony unveils a couple of DVDR/RW drives capable of 4x DVD+RW rewriting

Sony unveiled two DVDR/RW drives external DRU-510ULK and internal DRU-510AK capable of 4x DVD+RW rewriting. The sales of both novelties are to start on October 11.

The ATAPI DRU-510AK and USB2.0/i.LINK DRU-510ULK feature:

  • 4x DVD+RW rewrite, 4x DVDR write
  • 2x DVD-RW rewrite
  • 16x CD-RW rewrite
  • 24x CD-R write
  • 2x DVD-VIDEO, 12x DVD-ROM, 32x CD-ROM read

The internal model is offered with black or white front panel and is naturally sized to fit into a 5.25" bay 146x192x41.4mm, weighing about 1.1kg. The external model is some larger 164x246x53mm, weighing about 1.9kg. The latter can also be installed vertically. USB and i.Link cables are bundled.

Still I can´t understand why Sony lagged so much after Hitachi-LG that introduced its similar GSA-4040B as far back as in April, however without DVD-VIDEO support.
