This time it´s about ASUS booth. First of all, note the J-100 handset. The model is already in volume production.
![]() Brief specs:
On the next photo is nothing but a camera for the phone above installed as a back panel:
![]() The next interesting exhibit is the P4R800-V Deluxe board on ATI Radeon 9100 IGP. The most interesting that it hosts an entire hoard of chips from various companies, including SiS, ATI and VIA (audio). :)
![]() As for its features, briefly they are: Pentium 4/Celeron support with up to 800MHz FSB (!), Radeon 9100 IGP + IXP150 chipset, dual-channel DDR400, Serial ATA RAID, Gb LAN, IEEE1394.
![]() There was also P4800-VM on ATI Radeon 9100 IGP exhibited. It features has IXP200 Southbridge and more humble features: 6-ch. audio and 10/100 LAN.
Our report from Computex 2003: Gigabyte´s offerings Companies are showcasing lots of innovations at Computex 2003 in Taiwan. Of course, we´ll try to report about new technologies and prospect developments first, but no report would be good without a coverage of novelties that should arrive to shops in the nearest future. A quick view of exposition:
![]() Let´s begin from the Gigabyte´s booth. Below is an AMD Athlon FX51 system:
![]() It features K8NNXP-940 motherboard on NVIDIA nForce3 Pro 150, FX 5900 Ultra and GEIL DDR500. But what impressed me most was 800Mbps IEEE1934b support. This is still a rarity in desktops, especially integrated (excluding Apple´s systems). Perhaps, some would guess how NVIDIA-based card appeared on Gigabyte´s booth? Actually this doesn´t surprise me now as strong as before :-) Though I didn´t see the "made by Gigabyte" mark onboard (perhaps, some comments will be offered later). But nearby there´s a GV-R96P128DU solution on a usual ATI Radeon 9600 Pro:
![]() Below is a long anticipated and spoken of Centrino-based Gigabyte NB-1401 notebook.
![]() NB1401 based on Intel 855GM + ICH4-M chipset; features 1.3/1.4/1.5/1.6/1.7GHz Intel Pentium M processor; has two DDR SO-DIMM sockets for up to 2Gb, 14.1" XGA, 20/30/40/60/80Gb HDD, thin 9.5mm optical DVD/CD-RW, WLAN Intel 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 56K v.90 modem, PCMCIA Type II slot. The body is made of aluminium-magnesium alloy. They say with Microsoft Windows XP this will cost about $2000. And below is a photo of a total novelty. It´s NB201 on Intel Pentium M with 2 x DDR SO-DIMM sockets (up to 2Gb), but already with 12.1" XGA display and standard interfaces. The notebook weighs just 1.56kg. Pricing hasn´t been undisclosed.
![]() Mobile Intel Pentium 4 with Hyper-Threading officially announced Hyper-Threading formerly used in desktop and servers only, became a notebook feature as well. Intel introduced its first Mobile Pentium 4 (mainly DTR) with HT support. New chips are based on Intel NetBurst architecture, support 533MHz, support Enhanced Intel SpeedStep, Deep Sleep and Deeper Sleep; are designed for Intel 852GME and Intel 852PM systems. Currently Mobile Intel Pentium 4 HT series includes:
Registered HyperX DDR400 DIMMs for AMD Athlon 64 FX supporting boards Kingston Technology announced the limited availability of DDR400 (PC3200) registered memory modules for system builders and PC enthusiasts. The Kingston HyperX DDR400 registered DIMMs are designed for use on motherboards supporting AMD Athlon 64 FX processors. The memory modules have also been tested on currently available platforms such as the ASUS SK8N motherboard, which features full support of DDR400 registered memory technology. As a result, Kingston has begun shipping limited quantities of 1GB memory kits to prepare system builders for their shipments of AMD Athlon 64 processor-based FX systems.
