The leader, Asustek Computer, shipped 2.56 million boards last month and earned NT$19.555 billion (for today´s morning $1=NT$34.03). To comment this we should mention that in August companies´ notebook and graphics cards sales reduced down to 150-200 thousands and 430 thousands, respectively, while gaming consoles and optical drives shipments grew. For the first 8 months of 2003 Asustek shipped about 16.5 million motherboards and about 850-950 thousands of notebooks. Elitegroup revenues reduced by about 24.4% in August mainly due to the low seasonal motherboard demand in USA and Europe. Comparing to July, motherboard shipments dropped by 7.6% down to 1.3 million.
