TWINX1024-4000: CORSAIR DDR500 memory modules

It seems the wave of DDR500 announcements is getting weaker. By the moment PC4000 products have already been announced by GeIL, OCZ Technologies, Kingston. And CORSAIR has put an end to this with the announcement of its TWINX1024-4000 kits (2x64Mx64, two DDR500 CMX512-4000 modules). New modules feature 3-4-4-8-T1 timings at 2.75V. According to the company, they’ve been tested on 875P ("Canterwood") and 865PE/G ("Springdale") motherboards.

As usual, novelties are offered with black and silvery aluminium heat-sinks.

Albatron Gigi Geforce FX5600EQ review @ MonkeyReview

“As you can see from the benchmark results, the Albatron Gigi FX5600EQ didn’t really have the steam to deliver the kind of marks we had half expected to see. Something else that was realized during our testing was the lack of overclocking potential. We muscled with it for about an hour and the best that we were able to hit was a mere 331/410.”

Photo of the day: Manli Radeon 9800 Pro in our lab

We are currently testing a new graphics card from Manli on ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. It has 256Mb RAM, DVI and TV connectors. The package includes the cables and two CDs with drives and PowerDVD.

SOYO announces new DRAGON SY-KT600 Ultra Platinum mobo for AMD XP 3200+

SOYO Computer, Inc. announced a new ATX board for its DRAGON series, DRAGON SY-KT600 Ultra Platinum. Based on VIA KT600, it’s designed for Socket A AMD XP 3200+ with 400MHz FSB.

The board has 3 x DIMM sockets for up to 3Gb DDR400 SDRAM. New RAID controller supports Level 0 (data striping), Level 1 (disk mirroring), and Levels 0+1 modes. The board has 8 x USB2.0 ports, IEEE1394 ports, 5 x 32-bit PCI slots, AGP 8x slot, CMI 8738 codec, RS-232 port, LPT (SPP/EPP/ECP) port, IrDA header, Broadcom BCM5705 Gigabit LAN.

Spire SP420B8 CopperStream Heatsink Review @ DarkVision Hardware

"Things that can really make a difference in performance is the design of a heatsink, pins and fins all try to make the contact surface with air as big as possible and how bigger the surface how more it can spread his heat and copper does this better. Another very important thing is the fan, a powerfull fan will draw the heat away much faster than a weak fan. Also a good contact between the CPU and heatsink is important! Lapping or thermal compounds are used to make the surface as flat as possible. So between Copper , Aluminium with Copper base and Aluminium heatsinks with exactly the same design and fan the Copper one will be the best, and the Aluminum one the worst. But the difference will only be a few degrees..."

ASUS P4P800: 1200MHz FSB is real

We’ve received some interesting info regarding Springdale-based Asustek P4P800 boards from company’s local branch. According to it, having tested various revisions, test labs confirmed the ability of ASUS P4P800 to work with 2.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 (800MHz FSB) at 1200MHz system bus clock speed without sacrificing system stability:

ABIT announces Siluro FX5600 Ultra OTES, FX5600 OTES and FX5600 DT

ABIT Computer officially announced a new line of graphics cards on NVIDIA GeForce FX5600 and FX5600 Ultra GPUs. Currently it includes Siluro FX5600 Ultra OTES, Siluro FX5600 OTES and Siluro FX5600 DT models with 128 and 256 Mb RAM.

New cards feature two kinds of ABIT cooling systems: first two models have ABIT OTES III and the third – Visor. OTES III has already been detailed, as for Visor it features dynamic aluminium design with improved airflow distribution for more o/c stability.

ABIT Siluro FX5600 Ultra OTES on NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 Ultra with low-noise OTES cooling has 128Mb of 128-bit DDR SDRAM memory; 400/400MHz GPU/memory clocks; VGA, DVI-I, TV-Out connectors.

ABIT Siluro FX5600 OTES is the same but has 325MHz GPU clock speed.

ABIT Siluro FX5600 DT on GeForce FX 5600 feature 256/128Mb of 128-bit DDR SDRAM; 325MHz GPU clock speed; VGA, DVI-I, TV-Out connectors; uBrilliant Blue Visor LED fan.

Thermaltake Volcano 11+ Xaser Edition CPU Cooler Review @ Overclockers Portugal

"Usually, the name Thermaltake is associated to innovation and quality and that´s what we obtain with this cooler. Due to the great performance obtained in average and máx RPMs and because I can count on this when i squeeze the processor, this coooler goes directly to my sistem."

Triplex Mohoch GeForce FX 5900: being friendly with both ATI, and NVIDIA

Taiwanese Triplex, known by its silvery boards and ability to simultaneously release products on both ATI, and NVIDIA GPUs (for example, RedAI 9600 Pro VIVO and Wireless in June), released its GeForce FX5900-based solution, Mohoch GeForce FX5900.

The novelty repeats NVIDIA´s reference board and cooler design and is strangely not silvery this time. The card has 128Mb of Hynix’s 2.2ns DDR SDRAM, analog DVI-I connectors, VIVO. Of all Triplex´s original ideas this product seems to have a nice suitcase-like package. Pricing and shipments information is unavailable.

Matsushita introduces DMR-E100H and DMR-E200H DVD recorders

Matsushita Electric Industrial introduced two new DVD recorders with integrated hard drives, DMR-E100H and DMR-E200H. The first will be presented in the Japanese market in August and will get worldwide in the Fall. New models feature SD Memory Card and PCMCIA slots, so one can naturally use other media with an adapter as well.

DMR-E100H features 120Gb hard disk, DMR-E200H — 160Gb one. The former doesn’t have a satellite TV tuner and EPG support. Models support MPEG2/MPEG4 recording and playback and allow to record MPEG4 while writing MPEG2 video to the hard drive.

Another difference of DMR-E200H is the 100BASE-TX/10BASE-T interface enabling Internet access. Models support DVD-RAM/DVD-R formats at 12x/24õ recording speeds, respectively. Both support DVD-Audio playback, but only DMR-E200H features a fully-featured 5.1 output.

In all devices support DVD-Video, DVD-audio, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, VCD, CD-DA, CD-R, CD-RW media. Sized 430x79x296 mm, DMR-E100H weighs 5.6kg. DMR-E200H is sized 430x105x296 mm and weighs 6.1kg.

KingMAX PC3200 256MB modules Reviewed @ Techseekers.net

"Although these modules are not the absolute fastest performing modules around, they are damn close to it. They actually performed well above my expectations suprisingly close to the Corsair PC3200LL despite the loose memory timings, which goes to show that at high FSB these settings amount to only a little improvement. The system itself remained extremely stable at all speeds up to 225MHz"

Samsung P400: a new camera-equipped smartphone

Closer to the end of July Samsung is going to release its new GSM 900/1800/1900 smartphone, SGH-P400, to replace SGH-V200.

According to provisional info, the new model will also feature an integrated digital camera, but the 128x160x65Ê 9-line LCD display has two degrees of freedom, with 180° base-relative rotation and up to 360° rotation in perpendicular plane enabling additional photo shooting comfort.

Other important features of SGH-P400 include the Java engine with 512Kb for apps (I guess some of this capacity is occupied by four bundled games). Sized 91x48x23mm, it weighs about 105g. Standard 900mAh Li-Ion battery provides up to 8 hours of operation or up to 180 hours of standby. Samsung SGH-P400 should cost about 400 euros.
