TwinMOS releases 512Mb unbuffered PC3700 modules

In a rather original manner TwinMOS announced new Unbuffered PC3700 DIMM modules on DDR466 chips. The press release states that JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) has adopted PC3200 DDR400MHz, but TwinMOS is still a step ahead. But actually this claim about PC3200 DDR400MHz is not true for now. And DDR466-based modules are not the standard as well. So, PC3700 is rather a nice reference point for buyers.

New modules require 2.7V supply voltage. Based on DDR466 chips marked 43B (4.3ns/CL2.5), TwinMOS PC3700 modules have been tested in a system on Gigabyte GA-8SQ800 Ultra (SiS655). Pricing and shipments information is not available at the moment.

Leadtek WinFast K7NCR18G-Pro Motherboard Review at Bjorn3D

"There have been quite a few nForce2 reviews out by now, including a few on our site. Less common to this point, however, have been ones that cover boards with the new GeForce4 IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor). I´ve been fortunate enough to get a hold of one of Leadtek´s new K7NCR18G-Pro boards to test. You see, when the other guys were clamoring for nForce2´s, I held back and decided to wait for the IGP boards. My old board, a Leadtek K7N420DA had an onboard GeForce2 MX, and while I didn´t use it as my primary card, I found it came in handy enough times that I wanted to try another IGP motherboard."

3DCenter News: Matrox Parhelia Voltage Mod + ATi Radeon 8500 —> 9100 Flash-Guide

"Der Parhelia 512 Chip selber besteht aus 80 Millionen Transistoren und basiert auf der 0.15 micron Technologie. Er wird mit den drei Spannungen (eine teilt er sich mit den RAM´s) 1,86V, 1,27V und 2,73V versorgt. Die Taktfrequenz des Chips liegt bei der Retail-Version bei 220 MHz, bei der Bulk-Version bei 200 MHz." More on Matrox Parhelia modding here.

Besides, here you can browse the ATi Radeon 8500 —> 9100 Flash-Guide.

VIA licenses Sensaura ´s technologies

VIA Technologies signed the partnership with Sensaura, aimed at licensing and usage of technologies of the former in audio controllers and codecs.

Now Sensaura’s popular MacroFX, EnvironmentFX, MultiDrive developments will be used together with AC97 codecs and Envy audio controller line.

New exhibits for our hardware museum: Olivetti M15 PC laptop

We’ve recently acquired this old Olivetti M15 PC laptop for our hardware museum from a reader who preferred to remain undisclosed.

Weighing 5.7 kg, this "grandpa" features 4.77MHz 80C88 processor, 16Kb ROM, 512Kb RAM, 16Kb Video RAM, 640x200 LCD display.

But the most interesting is that the notebook is fully functional, booting OS without errors. So, theoretically, it can be used as it’s meant to. :-)

HWZ review: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5800 Ultra rated 4 out of 5

"The GeForce FX is truly a force to be reckoned with. Just looking at its specifications, it is enough to overthrow all other competing graphics technologies. Its core is clocked at an incredibly high 500MHz thanks to its 0.13-micron engineering process and it is the first commercial product to utilize DDR II at 1GHz."
