The top graphics adapter in our review has an 8-phase GPU VRM managed by the Chil controller, and a 2-phase memory VRM. The memory chips are placed around the GPU, as in the reference card. Also, Sapphire added a second DVI output. Overall, Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz Edition's set of outputs allows to connect three displays simultaneously. The graphics card demands supplementary power through 6-pin and 8-pin connectors.
The Sapphire HD 7870 GHz Flex Edition has a shifted 6-phase GPU instead of the reference 5-phase. Again, Sapphire added a DVI output and a full-size DisplayPort instead of two mini versions of the reference device. Being a Flex Edition graphics adapter, Sapphire HD 7870 GHz Flex Edition can handle four, not three displays at the same time. The supplementary power is provided through a pair of 6-pin connectors.
Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7770 GHz Edition OC has the same 3-phase GPU and 1-phase memory VRMs as the reference card. However, the set of outputs doesn't differ from those of the cards above. The graphics card has a 6-pin connector for supplementary power.
Sapphire HD 7750 Low Profile is a completely different product, optimized for slim and barebone cases. Compared to the reference card, it has the same core, memory and VRMs (2-phase for GPU and 1-phase for memory). Due to its size, the adapter has mini, not full-sized HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. The graphics adapter requires no supplementary power.
Maximum resolutions and frequencies:
- 240 Hz maximum refresh rate
- 2048 x 1536 @ 85 Hz max. analog (VGA) resolution
- 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz max. digital (DVI) resolution (for Dual Link DVI-D)
