Cooling

We won't review the cooler of Palit 4870 Sonic, because it's the same that in the Gainward's card. They just have different stickers.

A large massive cooler with a plate heatsink and heat pipes. There is a big and slow fan in the center of it, but this cooling system is not noiseless (its noise is not irritating, but some people may still be disappointed).
Palit RADEON HD 4850 Sonic 512MB
This device has the same principle of operation, only its shape is different, and it's smaller.

All these two-slot coolers have one problem: they output hot air both outside and inside the enclosure. This is not good, especially for such a hot card as RADEON HD 4870.

We monitored temperatures using the RivaTuner utility.

As we can see, all coolers do their job all right.
