Today we shall review two decent Radeon HD 6750/6770 graphics cards from HIS which are based on the same Juniper core as Radeon HD 5750/5770.

Specifications

HIS 6770 IceQ X Turbo 1GB GDDR5

  • GPU: Radeon HD 6770 (Juniper)

Since the cards have the same Juniper cores as Radeon HD 5750/5770 (and generally the same clock rates), we may safely assume they would perform the same. For now let's compare the looks.

HIS Radeon HD 6750 differs from a generic Radeon HD 5750, mainly by having more capacious memory chips. HIS Radeon HD 6770, in turn, has undergone more significant changes. Firstly, the power supply has been relocated closer to output connectors. Secondly, it now supports only CrossFire, not CrossFireX, and only has one CrossFire bridge socket (meaning you can't build a rig with more than two such cards). The capacity of memory chips has remained the same.

Maximum resolutions and frequencies:

  • 240 Hz maximum refresh rate
  • 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz max. digital (DVI) resolution
  • 2048 x 1536 @ 85Hz max. analog (VGA) resolution

Each of these cards has one 6-pin supplementary power socket.

Coolers

Even though the card belongs to the popular IceQ series, HIS has long since cancelled its cooperation with Arctic Cooling. These days the IceQ series offers very different cooling solutions. In this case we have a massive heatsink, heatpipes and a cover with a slow, quiet fan. Memory chips are not cooled.

This one is a small heatsink and a cover with a slow, quiet fan (louder than the previous though). The entire design is big enough for the card to occupy two expansion slots. Memory chips are not cooled.
