Coolers

Inno3D GeForce GTX 670 iChill

The graphics card features the original iChill cooling system. The base is pressed against the GPU under one of the heatpipes, so the cooling system is rather broad and takes 3 slots. The nickel-plated heatpipes and heatsinks are made of copper alloy.

The heatpipes disperse heat to a pair of large heatsinks. Above it all is a plastic cover with three fans. The fan holders are detachable, so you could clean the cooling system easier. Moreover, the bundle includes extra fan holders of different colors. Also, if you think that just two fans will be enough for cooling, you can remove the third one. The memory chips and power transistors are cooled with their own plates.

On the whole, the cooling system is rather heavy and longer than the PCB itself. Being an overkill for the GTX 670 GPU, the cooling system is almost noiseless, operating at 700 rpm in the 2D mode and at 1200 rpm under the maximum load.

Inno3D GeForce GTX 660 Ti

This cooling system is simpler than that of the GTX 670. The base is pressed into one of the two heatsinks. Heatsink size enables the cooling system to fit on the PCB. Like with the GTX 670, you can unmount the fan holders. Most memory chips and the power transistors are cooled with their own plates. However, note that a pair of memory chips on the back have no cooling at all, decreasing the overall overclocking potential.

On the whole, the cooling system looks like a simplified iChill. It occupies 2 slots and operates at higher speeds (900 rpm in the 2D mode, 1700 rpm under the maximum load). A little noisier than the GTX 670's.

Temperature monitoring results

We measured temperatures using the EVGA PrecisionX utility.

Inno3D GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Both cooling systems proved to be very effective. After working non-stop for 6 hours, Inno3D GeForce GTX 670 iChill was at 62°—an excellent result. Inno3D GeForce GTX 660 Ti got a little hotter, 68°—excellent as well.
