As you can see, Palit GeForce GTX 470 1280MB GDDR5 has a custom PCB that is quite different from the reference one. Only memory chip layout is the same. Palit's card is shorter, there are no ventilation holes, power unit is different. Last but not least, there are four outputs instead of the standard three. Considering that the card only has two transmitters, you can output signal to two monitors simultaneously (DVI + HDMI or DVI + DisplayPort).
The card has two 6-pin supplementary power connectors.
Maximum resolutions and frequencies:
- 240 Hz maximum refresh rate
- 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz max. digital resolution
- 2048 x 1536 @ 85Hz max. VGA resolution
Cooling
The cooler has a heatsink and a cover with two fans. The heatsink has copper base plate and cools down both the core and memory chips. The fans are slow, so the cooler is almost noiseless.
Temperature monitoring results
Traditionally, we monitored temperatures using EVGA Precision (based on RivaTuner).
Although the cooler seems efficient, core temperature reaches 89°C. This is acceptable for a reference card (and it's not that hot anyway), but a similar cooler on a Gainward's card does a way better job — 81°C at higher GPU clock rate.
Package
A basic package should include a user manual, a software CD, and adapters where applicable. Now let's see what other accessories are bundled with each card.
This is a basic bundle with a power splitter (don't forget: the card needs two in total).
Box
A traditional cardboard box with all necessary specifications listed on it. Accessories are stowed into compartments, the card itself is fixed securely to avoid transportation issues.
