AMD Radeon HD 6850 1024MB
The cooler has two parts: the fan that only cools down the core and the heatsink with a copper base. The cooler is quiet enough, so the core temperature shouldn't be very high.
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1024MB
The cooler is similar, but the fan cools down both the core and memory chips. Because of this, the heatsink is larger and the fan is more powerful. Although the device is still quiet.

Traditionally, we monitored temperatures using EVGA Precision (based on RivaTuner).

As you can see, both coolers are similarly efficient, and the temperature doesn't exceed 80-81°C, which is good for a such a graphics card. As for the maximum power consumption under load, Radeon HD 6850 consumes 150W, while Radeon HD 6870 consumes 180W.
