Game bugs
February 2005

This section describes bugs we find in games we test graphics cards with. From February 2005 on we launched the bug archive and redesigned this section.

If you find any bugs or have any comments and worthy ideas regarding this section, email Danil Gridasov.

  1. Testbed
  2. Graphics cards
  3. Drivers
  4. Actual bugs

Currently graphics cards are tested in the following testbeds:

  • Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz (800MHz FSB, HT Enabled)
  • ASUS P4C800-E (i875P, AGP 8x)
  • 1024MB PC3200

Operating systems are: Windows XP Service Pack 2, including updates, and DirectX 9.0c.

In the future we'll be keeping a log of our testbed configurations evolution.

Graphics cards

The following cards were used in making of this material:

  • ATI Radeon 9200 (Gigabyte Radeon 9200) (until 02.2005)
  • NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4600 (NVIDIA Reference) (until 02.2005)
  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (Palit Daytona GeForce FX 5200) (until 02.2005)
  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra (Albatron GeForce FX 5700 Ultra) (until 02.2005)

Bugs noticed on archived graphics cards are also archived.

In the past month we used the following drivers for testing the graphics cards:

ATI Catalyst 5.2 (8.10)

  • ATI official reference drivers.
  • Released 09.02.2005.
  • Noticed no innovations comparing to the previous Catalyst 5.1.

NVIDIA ForceWare 71.24 to 71.84 and 75.90

  • Leaked betas of NVIDIA reference drivers.
  • The older 75.90 leaked on February 22, the latest 71.84 leaked on February 26.
  • No innovation noticed comparing to the previous official reference (ForceWare 67.66). 75.90 drivers support OpenGL 2.0.
  • The new official reference based on 71.84 is expected to be released soon.
  • 75.90 is experimental and has lots of bugs (for the sake of justice, 71.84 has lots of bugs as well).

We run games on beta drivers just to please our interest. Bugs noticed on leaked drivers are not published in this section. But this is theoretically possible if a really interesting beta is leaked or it has been to long since the last official release.

Actual bugs

Since this is the first issue after 3Digest redesign, all actual bugs are considered new. We'll be using and marks for marking new or updated bugs.

For the same reason the bug archive is empty. It will be filled with fixed or obsolete bugs starting from the next issue of 3Digest.
