As you can see, "newer" doesn't always mean "better". Our tests indicate that iE7205 chipset (codenamed Granite Bay) is not always faster than older i850e. Memory bandwidth still strongly affects modern games, and RDRAM is known to provide more of it. Nevertheless we move to the new chipset due to AGP8x support required as more and more such products arrive to the market. Second, the lag behind i850e is not that big with rare exception. Moreover some cards work faster on the Granite Bay (with the same rare exception).
