Part IIIAlbatron is mostly known for video cards though it also produces mainboards. In the near future it will release a mainboard for the Athlon 64. This system is coupled with the Corsair DDR500 memory. At Albatron's booth I was lucky to take a shoot of NVIDIA's Taiwanese butterfly surrounded by the top managers... Innovision is famous for inexpensive but high-quality graphics cards. At the Computex the company demonstrated a whole range of their products. The Personal Cinema FX solutions were also displayed.
There were some more interesting solutions, like this MPEG-2 InnoDV
DV-3300 hardware decoder.
Or this s-video and composite video capture card.
Today there are few companies (except Creative) which seriously take
production of external sound cards of the entry and mid levels. There is
Genius... and now Innovision that offers the 5.1 sound card based on Intel's
chip.
Another attractive solution from Innovision was the Bluetooth Headset:
Here're also MP3 players:
And storage devices:
Soltek conquered users' hearts with its fast, reliable and inexpensive board based on the VIA KT133A chipset for Athlon processors. At Computex Soltek showed a wide range of mainboards, video cards and Barebone systems. Today Soltek takes a moderate position on our market but it's going to reconsider its system of interaction with the Russian press and distributors so that it can make its position on the motherboard market stronger. Soltek demonstrated systems based on Intel 848P, 875P and VIA PT880 for
Intel's processors.
Soltek is ready to meet the new Athlon 64 processors. However, the company doesn't name the exact announcement dates for a mainboard for the Athlon FX processors. For those who do not hurry to get AMD's new processors Soltek offers a compact solution for the Socket A with the integrated graphics and AGP slot. On the market of video adapters Soltek offers both entry-level solutions based on the GeForce4 MX440 and relatively expensive high-performance video cards based on NVIDIA's chips. At the moment Soltek offers cards up to the GeForceFX 5900 Ultra. Soltek believes that their Qbic Barebone systems won't be less popular
with users when they become more efficient.
The Qbic integrates an efficient cooling system suitable for high MHz CPU.
The new Qbic is equipped with all necessary ports and an integrated
card reader for more convenient handling of flash storage units.
TV tuners from Compro were already tested in our lab and then reviewed.
At Computex Compro demonstrated both VideoMate (with a new system that
allows turning on PC at a definite time to record video)...
...and new external VideoMate Live for the USB 2.0 interface. A live TV signal was demonstrated on the Barebone system from Iwill. It looked quite well: the image quality was high. By the way, Compro is one of NVIDIA's official partners. I didn't cover even a hundredth part of all new and interesting products showcased in Taipei. Fortunately, my colleagues from our news section timely reported about all events at the Computex 2003. I hope next year the Computex will take place at the due time so that it can attract much more IT experts. And meanwhile we are waiting for new solutions, events and sensations. Till Computex 2004!
