Audio compression performance test packet support page
|
-
The disbalance between the lossy and lossless audio codecs is completely
done away with in the test packet.
-
OptiFROG lossless codec
added.
-
Monkey's Audio lossless codec
added.
-
Now the test packet measures time of compression for four lossy codecs
(GOGO, LAME, OGG Vorbis, WMA9 VBR) and four lossless ones (FLAC, OptiFROG,
Monkey's Audio, WMA9 Lossless).
-
All required software except the Windows
Media Encoder 9 in included into the test packet.
-
Compatibility is maintained: the test results of v1.0—1.2 are identical
(except the subtests added).
-
For your convenience, apart from options for running certain subtests (like
<-lame>) and the entire test packet (<-all>),
there are <-lossy> and <-loss> options
added - for running all subtests with lossy and lossless coders.
-
Minor changes in the script, they they do not influence an outcome of the
subtests eariler included into the packet (diagnostic data displaying improved).
-
No defragmentation if none of the subtests runs (i.e. if the script stops
with an error message or help information).
-
Subtest with the FLAC lossless
audio codec added (by readers' request). The codec is included into the
test packet distribution.
-
First public test packet release.
-
Note that some tests (Windows Media Audio encoding) do not work without
the Windows
Media Encoder 9 which is not included into the test packet.
-
The file to be encoded (TEST.WAV) is not included into the test
packet.
