Jetway S446 (SiS 645) Mainboard
|
This is not the first board from this company in our lab, and it is
quite difficult to tell one from another: a changed set of chips is overshadowed
by a colorful design.
Accessories:
- Package: an ordinary design for this company;
- Documentation: a user manual in English; a folder describing the Recovery
Genius functions;
- Cables: 1 ATA66/100 (with plastic-covered connectors) and 1 FDD;
- CD with software including:
- drivers;
- Award WinFlash - for BIOS flashing from Windows;
- PC-Cillin 2000 - popular antivirus packet;
- MagicBIOS;
- Recovery Genius.
The layout is simple and convenient: DE and FDD connectors and audio-ins
are not blocked; it's only additional power supply connectors which are
placed close to the rear panel (their cables will worsen ventilation).
The feed circuits incorporate 9 capacitors of 2200 uF and 6 of 1500
uF.
There are the following controllers: AC'97 codec ALC201A from Avance
Logic (audio solution) - the chip supports SPDIF, but the respective connector
is lacking, though there is one for audio-outs for the front computer panel.
Non-unsoldered connectors: IDE RAID controller and connectors
(on the PDC20265R from Promise for the S446R board version).
Brief characteristics of the board: memory slots - 3 DDR SDRAM;
expansion slots - AGP/ 5 PCI/ CNR; I/O ports - 2 COM/ LPT/ 2 PS/2/ 4 USB
(though the chipset supports 6); dimensions - 305x245 mm.

This is relatively cheap and stable board meant for the market niche
of inexpensive and unsophisticated products.
