Damaged CD reading
Reading of CD-ROM discs is uncertain, especially
if discs are of poor quality. The speed was jumping much. And this
affected the reading time.

Direct copying of data from a 780 MBytes CD-R
onto a hard disc.
The drive read the 780 MBytes disc very good. The
time of full copying is 12 min. 55 sec. The reading was so long
as the drive read the test disc quite uncertainly.

Both at the maximum and reduced speed the noise
level was quite high. Speed reduction is possible only with the
help of external programs (CDBremse, Nero DriveSpeed): 48x-40x-32x-20x-8x.
Vibration
When working with badly balanced CDs the drive
didn't shine. It vibrated quite much. However, vibration didn't
prevent from reading discs at a high speed.
Thermal conditions.
There are no any complains about its thermal conditions.
The data were read after an intensive 2-hour operation:
T inside the case - 35°C
T of the upper surface - 38°C
T of the lower surface - 39°C
Possibility to make the drive region free (RPC-1).
According to www.firmware.fr.st,
you can change the firmware version to make the drive region free.
