The drive came in the OEM package. It is interesting
that this model is shorter and lighter than usual (184.7 mm instead
of 203mm and 750 g instead of 1 kg). The front panel has only a
Load/Eject button.

DVD-Video playback with the Cyberlink
PowerDVD 2.55
The DVD-Video was played without any problems;
no artifacts were noticed. Changing of the layer didn't affect the
quality of reproduction.
Noise characteristics

- CD
- Seek - 7/10
- Total noise - 6/10
- DVD
- Seek - 7/10
- Total noise - 6/10
At the maximum and reduced speed the noise level
was quite high. Speed reduction is possible only with the help of
external programs (CDBremse, Nero DriveSpeed): 8x.
Vibration
When working with badly balanced CDs the drive
didn't shine. It vibrated quite much. However, vibration didn't
prevent from reading discs at a high speed.
Thermal conditions.
There are no any complains about its thermal conditions.
The data were read after an intensive 2-hour operation:
T inside the case - 36°C
T of the upper surface - 41°C
T of the lower surface - 43°C
Possibility to make the drive region free
(RPC-1)
According to www.firmware.fr.st
, a small utility can help clear the region counter.
