The CD-RW disc supplied with the drive can be recorded at 12X! ;-)

Most likely it's a mistake.

The software was carefully selected for this drive:

  • Update for Windows 98, supplementing the OS with a normal support of FireWire devices (IEE1394).
  • Drivers for PCMCIA and USB versions of the recorder CRX-160E.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05.
  • PhotoBase 2.1.9 from ArcSoft.

This program is a simple-to-use manager of multimedia files with a great deal of possibilities for organization of presentations. With the PhotoBase you can create albums with photos, video clips and sound accompaniment in the form of one document for convenient storage, search and ordering of files of different formats.

  • PhotoStudio 2000se from ArcSoft

This program from ArcSoft will serve a convenient and multifunctional editor of graphics files. Of course, the PhotoStudio can't entirely replace the Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photo-Paint, but it offers a lot of necessary functions: working with layers, insertion and editing of texts, multilevel system of undo/repeat and a wide range of special effects.

  • VideoImpression 1.6 from ArcSoft

The VideoImpression from ArcSoft can also assemble several video clips into a single film with effective transitions.

  • Drive Image (for CD-R) from PowerQuest

The Drive Image (for CD-R) will allow you to create an image of you HDD on a CD-R media to recover data quickly and flawlessly.

  • DataKeeper 4.1 from PowerQuest

It is an extended utility also meant for backup copying of data and their recovery.

  • WinOnCD 3.7 from CeQuadrat. Help files and guides for operation with the program.
  • Liquid Player 5

Apart from being a player of files of Liquid Audio, Liquid Player formats it can convert sound tracks from a CD in this format and serves a manager for ordering your files on the disc.

  • WaveLab SE 1.6 from Steiberg Software

This version of a powerful and quick audio editor with the DX and VST plugins support is a bit less functional than its retail brother. This version doesn't work without a recorder from Sony.

Each program comes with a user manual and a help file on the CD.

The front panel doesn't differ from that of previous models apart from being black.

A noisy tray (4), a headphones jack (1), mechanical volume control (2), a rectangular recessed tray button with a sharp click (6), a drive operation indicator (3) and an emergency ejection hole (5). The rear panel contains a digital output marked as "Unused".
