Computex 2011: NVIDIA Introduces 3D Vision Wired Glasses, GeForce GTX 560M and GeForce GT 520MX Mobile GPUs
NVIDIA announced a new addition to its 3D Vision product family: 3D Vision wired glasses based on the active-shutter technology.
The new glasses include a 10-foot USB 2.0 cable and are expected to be available from late June 2011 with the MSRP of $99.
Aside from the glasses, the company also unveiled the GeForce GTX 560M mobile GPU supporting the NVIDIA Optimus technology that improves battery life by automatically switching on and off the GPU so that it runs only when needed. It supports GDDR5 memory, has 192 CUDA cores, 1550 MHz GPU clock rate, 1250 MHz memory clock rate, up to 192-bit memory bus, and PCIe 2.0 interface. Other supported technologies include NVIDIA 3D Vision, NVIDIA PhysX and NVIDIA CUDA. The new GPUs also supports NVIDIA SLI and, in turn, is supported by the NVIDIA Verde notebook drivers.
For thin-and-light notebooks, NVIDIA also added an entry-level GeForce GT 520MX GPU to its product range. It supports DDR3 memory, has 48 CUDA cores, 1800 GPU clock rate, 800 MHz memory clock rate, and a 64-bit memory bus.
Alienware and Toshiba will be offering notebooks featuring GeForce GTX 560M and Optimus technology. ASUS, Clevo, MSI and others will be offering notebooks featuring GeForce GTX 560M. ASUS, Samsung and others will be offering notebooks featuring GeForce GT 520MX.
