VIA Launches New VIA EPIA-M860 Mini-ITX Board
VIA Technologies announced its latest Mini-ITX board paired with the VX900 chipset, the new VIA EPIA-M860. It combines a 1.2GHz VIA Nano E-Series Processor with the VIA VX900 media system chipset and is mainly intended for digital signage, media terminals, infotainment devices and online streaming video.
EPIA-M860 is the first EPIA board which supports Windows Embedded POSReady 7, an operating system designed to connect Point of Service (POS) solutions with peripherals, servers, services and the cloud. The VIA EPIA-M860 offers PCI, PCIe and Mini PCIe support, combined with mainstream DDR3 memory and both ATX and DC-in power support.
A fanless 1.2GHz VIA Nano E-Series processor is joined by the VIA VX900 media system processor providing DirectX 9.0 integrated graphics, HD audio and Gigabit Ethernet. VIA VX900 supports up to 4GB of DDR3-1066MHz system memory and offers advanced video acceleration for MPEG-2, VC-1, H.264, WMV9 and Blu-Ray HD video formats.
Rear panel I/O includes a GigaLAN port, an HDMI port, a VGA port, four USB 2.0 ports, a serial port connector, a DC-in jack (manufacturing option) and both line-out and mic-in jacks. Onboard connectors provide a wealth of options including a PCIe Gen2 x1 slot, a Mini-PCIe socket, and a PCI slot, two SATA connections, two voltage selectable RS-232 pin headers (selectable to 5V/12V), two USB pin-headers for three ports, a SMBus header and digital I/O including GPI and GPO options.
Samples of the VIA EPIA-M860 are available now.
