ASUS Announces P8Z68 Series and ROG Motherboards On Z68 Chipset

In an official press release ASUS announced a range of new motherboards based on the Intel Z68 Express chipset, namely the ASUS P8Z68 and ROG Maximus IV GENE-Z series.

Right now there are three models in the P8Z68 series listed at company's website: P8Z68-V Pro, P8Z68 Deluxe and P8Z68-V

As you may already know, in these motherboards ASUS will provide an implementation of LucidLogix Virtu so you can switch between built-in and discrete graphics. Another feature is Intel Smart Response Technology to accelerate hard drive performance and reduce energy consumption. The latter uses a solid-state cache to deliver the combined benefits of SSD speed and traditional hard drive storage capacity, cutting down on lengthy data access and system boot times in the process. This feature also reduces redundant hard drive spin, which lowers energy consumption and PC running costs.

Motherboards will of course support the ASUS-developed DIGI+ VRM technology called to improve durability, reliability and overclocking potential. And will feature UEFI instead of regular BIOS — with support for mouse, drag-n-drop, and a graphical user interface for the supposedly easier adjustment of BIOS parameters.

Briefly, specifications of P8Z68-V Pro are:

  • Processors: Intel Socket 1155 2nd Generation Core i7/Core i5/Core i3 Processors, 32-nm CPUs and Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 supported
  • Chipset: Intel Z68
  • Memory: 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
  • Multi-GPU Support: NVIDIA Quad-GPU SLI, AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX
  • Expansion slots: 2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8), 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black), 2 x PCIe x1, 2 x PCI
