Sandy Bridge-EP Sample Seen On eBay
The Sandy Bridge-EP platform should debut in about half a year, but such processors in the LGA 2011 package are already sampling to Intel partners. One of those, octacore Q19D ES, has been seen on eBay for $1360.
The model supports Hyper-Threading and, while being sold as a Core i7, may actually be a Xeon E5-4600 or E5-2600. According to the source, the processor will work in a motherboard based on Patsburg C600 or Patsburg-HEDT X79 chipset. The clock rate is said to be 1.60 GHz, cache, 20MB. According to preliminary information, mass-produced Core i7 in the LGA 2011 package will feature up to 15MB of cache.
