AMD Rolls Out 3.7-Gigahertz Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition
AMD expanded its processor lineup with the quad-core Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition processor based on the Deneb core. Based on the K10.5 architecture, the overclocker novelty is made using the 45-nm process technology and has the initial clock rate of 3.70 GHz (18.5 x 200 MHz).
The Deneb die features four x86-64 cores, each with 512MB cache, as well as 6MB of shared L3 cache. Other features include the TDP of 125W, HyperTransport 4 GT/s interconnect, integrated memory controller supporting dual-channel DDR3 and DDR2 memory. A Socket AM3 or AM2+ motherboard is required.
AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition costs $195.
