GIGABYTE Unveils HD 5870 Super Overclock Series Graphics Card
GIGABYTE introduced a new addition to its Super Overclock Series, a HD 5870 SOC graphics card (GV-R587SO-1GD). To qualify for Super Overclock Series, a GPU must go through GIGABYTE's GPU Gauntlet Sorting (a series of tests and tuning procedures) and it must have an Ultra Durable VGA or a VGA+ printed circuit board.
Specifications:
- GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5870
- Core clock: 950MHz (std. 850MHz)
- Mem clock: 5000MHz (std. 4800MHz)
- Memory: 1GB GDDR5
- Memory bus: 256-bit
- Interface: PCIe 2.1
- Outputs: DisplayPort, HDMI, 2 x Dual-Link DVI
One feature of Ultra Durable VGA+ is the use of proadlizers. GIGABYTE uses five NEC proadlizers, also known as film capacitors, to provide current capacity up to 5000uF, as well as extremely low ESL/ESR, for superb overclocking ability. Five times the regular capacitance indicates the amount of electric energy stored is fivefold. By placing five proadlizers around GPU, electric currents are able to be charged and discharged rapidly to support superb overclocking activity. The quintupled proadlizers transmit more stable power even under heavy load.
The graphics card features an dual inclined fan with four heat pipes claimed to improve cooling performance and reduce noise.
The list of proprietory software includes:
- OC Guru utility that allows users to adjust various graphics card parameters and fan speed;
- Voltage Read Point that allows changing voltages without messing with the card itself.
GIGABYTE's Super Overclock Series includes GTX 275, GTX 260, HD 5870 graphics cards and will soon include HD 5770.
