NEC LaVie Light: a New Challenge to Netbooks?
Japanese NEC joined the netbook race with its new LaVie Light. Some sources believe this might be a challenge to other major companies and their products.
The novelty looks stylish, withstands the pressure of up to 150 kg and has the following specs:
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3
- 8.9" 1024x600 display
- Intel Atom N270 CPU
- 160GB HDD
- 1GB RAM
- Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11b/g)
- 1.3-Mp webcam
- SD card reader
- 3 x USB ports
- NX Pad - a sliding pad with the gesture recognition feature
- 250 x 176.5 x 31.3-36.5mm dimensions
- 1.17 kg weight
It also supports "Power Off USB recharging function" for charging digital gadgets via USB ports even when the notebook is turned off.
The device also has the LaVie Light Menu providing fast 1-click access to the most frequently used software.
The price of LaVie Light has not been disclosed yet, but it's expected to be like that of its competitors.
