Packard Bell Introduces Eco-Friendly External Hard Drives
Packard Bell today announced the expansion of its personal storage line-up with two new eco-friendly external hard drives: the 2TB Packard Bell Jumbo desktop drive and the DivX-certified Packard Bell Studio multimedia drive.
The eco-friendly Packard Bell Jumbo external hard drive is a desktop drive that features dual 7,200-rpm SATA drives and an extra-fast USB 2.0 interface beneath its "obsidian" exterior.
With its distinctive angular shape and glossy ebony finish, the eco-friendly Packard Bell Studio multimedia drive is a partner for your TV set. Featuring up to 1TB of 7,200-rpm SATA storage, it offers DivX certification and HD component video output (1080i). It plays all versions of DivX video files including DivX 6 and is capable of Dolby Digital decoding.
It comes with a remote control and has a USB port for sharing or playing files stored on other USB mass storage devices.
Both new Packard Bell external storage solutions feature PowerSave technology, which reduces power consumption by 70% through powering down, after a given period of time, when the drive is inactive and automatically turning off and on when the personal computer is turned off and on. PowerSave also extends the drive's effective life expectancy by reducing disk drive usage. Finally, the drives are designed for fan-less silent operation, which also reduces power consumption.
Both drives come with the Packard Bell Software Suite for automatic, scheduled continuous backup. The software automatically updates itself over the Internet.
The Packard Bell Jumbo will be available in European retail outlets from August, with 1TB up to 2TB capacities. The Packard Bell Studio will be available from September with 320GB to 1TB capacities.
