Users Complain About MacBook Pro Graphics
According to user reports posted on Apple's support forums, MacBook Pro notebooks have a graphics subsystem issue. When rebooting or waking up from standby, MacBook ceases any visual output, independently on the display used (its own or external). Some users state this happens due to incorrect graphics card recognition - instead of the standard discrete NVIDIA 8600M GT, notebook is trying to use the integrated Intel GMA X3100.
According to users that have already stumbled upon this issue, the soluion offered by AppleCare - notebook replacement - doesn't help much, because it happens again after a while.
Preliminary research indicates this is happening with MacBook Pro notebooks sold in mid-2007.
