ATI Radeon HD 4800 Announced Officially
AMD officially announced the world's first graphics card with 1 teraFLOPS performance - ATI Radeon HD 4850. And the world's first graphics card with GDDR5 memory - ATI Radeon HD 4870. Both naturally support DirectX 10.1. As series' key features, the company states the aim on high-definition video and high energy efficiency.
ATI Radeon HD 4870 is already available with the MSRP of 299 USD. The company estimates its performance as 1.2 teraFLOPS. It features 750 MHz GPU, PCI Express 2.0 interface, 512MB GDDR5. The novelty occupies two slots in a PC enclosure and consumes 160W.
The junior ATI Radeon HD 4850 with performance of 1 teraFLOPS has MSRP of 199 USD. It features the same GPU working at 625 MHz, 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0 interface. This card occupies a single enclosure slot and consumes 110W.
Graphics card based on ATI Radeon HD 4800 series have already been announced by AMD's numerous partners, including VisionTek, ASUS, PowerColor, MSI, GIGABYTE, GECUBE, Force3D, SAPPHIRE Technology, Diamond Multimedia, Club 3D, HIS (Hightech Information Systems), and Palit Multimedia. Also, new graphics cards will naturally be used in custom PCs from Alienware, CyberPower, Extreme PC Corporation, Falcon-Northwest, iBUYPOWER, Maingear, Systemax, Ultra Gaming, etc.
