MSI Announces Supports Quad-Core Opterons, Unveils HDMI Solutions MSI announced the new K9NU Speedster motherboard and P1-106 System which support the newly launched Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor. Coupled with NVIDIA nForce 3400 chipset, K9NU-Speedster motherboard and P1-106 server barebone focus on the entry-level server market, supporting one Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2200 Series processor. NVIDIA nForce Pro 3400 supports 1GHz HyperTransport in full-duplex mode, so bi-directional throughput can reach 8GB/s. K9NU-Speedster also provides a maximum memory bandwidth up to 8.5GB/s (DDR2-533) or 10.5GB/s (DDR2-667). ![]() K9NU-Speedster motherboard and P1-106 Server barebone provide 8 DIMMs supporting a maximum 32GB of registered ECC DDR2-533/667 memory. Both also feature integrated XGI Volari Z7 graphic processor with 16MB of video memory and 2 x PCI-E x16 slots supporting NVIDIA SLI. Speaking of expansion, K9NU-Speedster and P1-106 provide 6 x SATAII ports with RAID 0/1/0+1/5, 2 x PCI-E x1 slots and 1 x 32bit PCI slot. Also, K9NU-Speedster mainboard and P1-106 Server barebone embed dual GbE LAN ports based on Marvell’s 1116 PHY. ![]() Finally, K9NU-Speedster montherboard and P1-106 Server barebone introduce company's latest heatpipe thermal solution. The company also launched the new HDMI-equipped P6NGM series of mainboards (with HDCP) based on the new NVIDIA MCP73 series chipset integrating GeForce 7 graphics for Intel processors. MSI will unveil at least 4 new SKUs based on NVIDIA MCP73 series chipset, from GeForce 7150 + nForce 630i to the entry level GeForce 7050 + nForce 610i. Lastly, MSI launched the vPro-ready Q35MDO (MS-7358) mainboard designed specifically for business PCs. It features the Intel Q35 Express chipset and supports Intel Core 2 Quad/Duo processors. The MSI Q35MDO chooses Q35 and ICH9DO for its chipset, and integrates all the functions for vPro digital office technology: through the Intel PRO Gb LAN, Q35MDO combines the Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) 3.0, Matrix Storage Technology (MST), Trust Execution Technology (TXT), and Virtualization Technology (VT). The vPro technology will report system status to help IT managers control, update, repair, and monitor every PC on the intranet.
