CeBIT 2007. Tyan: New AMD-Based Solutions
At the booth of Tyan that specializes in high-performance server solutions our reporter was attracted to these AMD-based products:
The Thunder n3600QX board based on nForce Pro 3600 core logic supports up to 4 x AMD Opteron Socket F processors of 8000 series. It features 32 sockets for DIMM DDR2-667/533/400, which totals maximum memory capacity to 128GB. The solution also offers 8 x SAS and 4 x SATA interfaces, an HTX port for Torrenza-based daugtherboards. There's also the lighter dual-way n3600U, which also supports HTX.
The Transport VX50 series supports quad (or even 8-way) configurations of AMD Opteron 8000 processors in rather compact 5U enclosures of 26.8" depth. The new models support and up to 128GB of DDR2 memory. Features include dual Gigabit and single Fast Ethernet controllers, 2 x PCI Express x16, 8 x hot-swappable SATA II. Such a machine powers from a 1620W PSU.
