Fujitsu Introduces Three New Desktop Replacement Multimedia Notebooks
Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation today announced three new desktop replacement multimedia models, including the Fujitsu consumer flagship LifeBook N6420 notebook featuring an HD DVD player. Fujitsu also introduced the new LifeBook A Series two 15.4-inch wide mainstream notebooks offering a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo or Dual Core AMD processors.
The Microsoft Windows Vista Premium-capable LifeBook N6420, LifeBook A3110 and LifeBook A6010 notebooks offer Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
Equipped with a large 17-inch Color Enhanced Crystal View display, the LifeBook N6420 notebook features the new Fujitsu Visual Optimizer, a special image processing subsystem that "amplifies" video from any source.
A built-in stereo sound system is supported by a subwoofer.
Notebooks feature Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics with 512 MB HyperMemory. The LifeBook N6420 notebook has storage capacity up to 400 GB with dual hard drives. Data is protected with an integrated fingerprint sensor.
The LifeBook A Series is aimed at the cost-conscious education and home markets. The LifeBook A6010 is powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the LifeBook A3110 notebook is powered by the AMD Turion 64 X2 processor.
Both the LifeBook A6010 and A3110 notebooks include the Fujitsu Shock Sensor utility, an accelerometer based hard disk drive protection system that constantly monitors the notebook for any shock and vibration. If a sudden motion or excessive vibration is detected, the hard drive head is retracted to minimize the likelihood of data loss. The sensor can also be set to password-lock the storage device if motion is detected, preventing the unauthorized access of data. Durability is addressed with a spill-resistant keyboard with two layers of protection including a protective membrane and collection tray to help reduce the chances of internal components getting damaged.
The Fujitsu LifeBook N6420 notebook is priced at $1,499 for a base configuration; the Fujitsu LifeBook A3110 notebook is priced starting at $ 1,399 with $100 mail-in rebate for a base configuration and the LifeBook A6010 notebook is priced starting at $1,149 with a $50 rebate for a base configuration. The three notebooks are immediately available. Users can choose from a recommended configuration, or they can customize their system using the Fujitsu Customize feature located on each product web page.
